Scantek Medical's networth increases with U.S. licensee's IPO
Business Wire, Sept 19, 1996
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 19, 1996--Scantek Medical Inc. (NASDAQ/BB:SKML) announced today that with the recent completion of the Initial Public Offering of its U.S. licensee, HumaScan Inc. (NASDAQ:HMSC), Scantek now owns approximately 779,000 shares or 10 percent of HumaScan.
HumaScan completed an IPO of 2.7 million shares at $6.00 per share on Aug. 14. HumaScan is the U.S. and Canadian licensee for Scantek.
Zsigmond L. Sagi, Ph.D., chief executive officer of Scantek said, "Our ownership of approximately 10 percent of HumaScan, should greatly enhance our exposure and provide increased liquidity for the company's shares."
Scantek's patented "BreastAssure(TM)" device is a low cost, non-invasive test for the detection of breast disease including breast cancer. The FDA has given Scantek authorization to market the device. Scantek is actively pursuing key territories for marketing of BreastAssure(TM).
Scantek's BreastAssure(TM) device is to be used by physicians as an adjunct to routine physical examination, including palpation, mammography, and other established procedures for the detection of breast disease. By detecting thermal differences, the BreastAssure(TM) alerts the physicians to probable thermally active breast disease or thermally active breast cancer by sensing the increased heat produced by the metabolic activity in the breast.
