Carter-Wallace Board elects Ralph Levine President/Chief Operating Officer

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SEPTEMBER 20, 1996--Carter-Wallace, Inc. (NYSE:CAR) today announced that its Board of Directors has elected Ralph Levine, president and chief operating officer, effective April 1, 1997. He will succeed Daniel J. Black who is retiring on March 31, 1997.

Mr. Levine, 60, is currently vice president, secretary and general counsel for the Company. In his new position, he will report to Henry H. Hoyt, Jr., chairman of the board and chief executive officer. Mr. Levine has been with Carter- Wallace for 34 years.

At the same time, the board elected Paul A. Veteri to be executive vice president and chief financial officer, effective April 1, 1997. Mr. Veteri, 54, is currently vice president, finance and chief financial officer. He has been with the Company for 20 years and in his new position, he will report to Ralph Levine.

Carter-Wallace, Inc. markets toiletries, proprietary drugs, pharmaceuticals, diagnostic specialties and pet products.
