Patrick J. Moore appointed vice president and chief financial officer of Jefferson Smurfit Corporation effective October 1, 1996; John R. Funke to retire

ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 23, 1996--The Board of Directors of Jefferson Smurfit Corporation (JSC) announced today that Patrick J. Moore, 42, has been appointed Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Company, effective October 1, 1996. He replaces John R. Funke, 54, who will remain a corporate Vice President until April 30, 1997, when he will retire.
Mr. Moore has been Vice President and General Manager - Industrial Packaging Division since December 1994. He joined the company in 1987 as Assistant Treasurer, and served as Treasurer from October 1990 to February 1993, when he was appointed Vice President and Treasurer.
Jefferson Smurfit Corporation, headquartered in St. Louis, MO, is one of the nation's most broadly based paper, paperboard and packaging companies.
