CAP GEMINI America and INT Team to Extend POSC Data Model Solutions to the Internet
Business Wire, Sept 27, 1996
HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 27, 1996--CAP GEMINI America, a leading provider of IT consulting services, and Interactive Network Technologies, Inc. (INT), a geoscience software components provider, today announced an alliance agreement under which the two companies will offer customized data management solutions using web-enabled technology and implementing the POSC industry-standard data model. Under the terms of the agreement, CAP GEMINI America will be a preferred consulting partner for INT and use INT's products on a preferential basis on their projects.
The challenge for many exploration and production company geoscientists is how to quickly and effectively visualize well logs. In many companies, this is a painstaking and time-consuming process that blends technology and manual mapping. Using off-the-shelf software such as INT's LogViewer with an industry-standard data model such as Epicentre from the Petrotechnical Open Software Corporation (POSC), over the Internet may reduce visualization time from days to seconds with the ability to do real-time comparisons. INT will provide products and Internet expertise for display and analysis functions. CAP GEMINI America will provide system integration, project management and upstream consulting expertise.
"Oil companies want to get the benefits of implementing POSC-compliant databases, and web-enabled technology," says Olivier Lhemann, president of INT. "CAP GEMINI America and INT have an excellent match of skills and products to offer customized solutions based on these technologies today."
"This combined solution will reduce data access time and give companies the opportunity to use technology to profitably grow production," said Bob Stafford, senior vice president of CAP GEMINI America's Energy & Chemicals Sector. "Good data management ensures good decisions, faster cycle time, less risk and higher payout."
