Business Wire, Sept 4, 1996
WOBURN, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 4, 1996--FOCUS Enhancements, Inc., (NASDAQ:FCSE, FCSEW)(BSE:FCS, FCSW) announced today that it is partnering with Zenith Electronics Corporation to launch the "Ziosk Technology Center," a computer retailer promotional concept.
The "Ziosks" will showcase Zenith's "Presentation Series" color television sets with integrated FOCUS computer display capabilities, and will be on display at the Retail Vision show today through Saturday in Dana Point, Calif.
FOCUS Enhancements and Zenith signed a multi-million dollar agreement earlier this year for the television manufacturer to use FOCUS' new PCZTV video scan conversion card, which enables images from most desktop or portable computer to be displayed sharply and flicker-free on Zenith's new television sets for the commercial market.
"The Zenith sets are the first commercial-grade televisions designed specifically for the business, presentation, training and education markets, which FOCUS has identified as a rapidly growing multi-million dollar market segment," said Thomas Massie, chairman and chief executive officer of FOCUS. "This partnership with Zenith, one of the leading television manufacturers in the world, is a strong endorsement of our technology and will help FOCUS retain its industry leadership in the PC-to-TV convergence market, which is estimated to grow over 375 percent in the next 24 months."
"Ziosks" will incorporate the 27-inch Zenith "Presentation Series" monitor/receiver and a laptop computer at a point-of-purchase Technology Center that includes a CD-ROM program that will demonstrate the PCZTV technology. The Micro Presenter, Focus' 7-ounce, portable stand-alone set-top box, also will be displayed at the Ziosk Technology Center. Zenith also is incorporating the PCZTV technology in Presentation Series 25-, 27-, 32-, and 35-inch monitor receivers.
FOCUS Enhancements, Inc. is an industry leader in the development and marketing of a range of proprietary multimedia video graphics and networking products for the rapidly converging multi-billion dollar computer and television industries.
