Manny, Moe & Jack Choose SCO; Pep Boys Chain Picks SCO Advanced File and Print Server over Windows NT

Business Wire, Sept 6, 1996

SANTA CRUZ, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Sept. 6, 1996--Joining the growing ranks of companies choosing UNIX system-based solutions for their business critical computing needs, Pep Boys has purchased 700 units of SCO Advanced File and Print Server for its stores.

Pep Boys, a nationwide automotive chain, will add SCO Advanced File and Print Server to systems currently running SCO OpenServer Release 5, the high-volume UNIX operating system for Intel processor-based platforms.

SCO Advanced File and Print Server allows the SCO OpenServer systems to provide file and print services to cash register-clients running Windows 95 and the SASI Xperience POS application. Pep Boys considered adding servers running Windows NT, but decided to stay with their SCO solution due to the cost savings and their desire to remain with an open system.
