LinkAge Connects Microsoft Exchange and IBM OfficeVision/VM Users; New Connector Provides Robust Messaging Connection Between Microsoft Exchange and IBM OfficeVision/VM and PROFS
Business Wire, Sept 9, 1996
TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 9, 1996--LinkAge Software, Inc., a leading supplier of enterprise-wide electronic mail connectivity solutions, today announced the general availability of the LinkAge Exchange-OfficeVision/VM Connector.
The Connector is a component of LinkAge Message Exchange, a robust message switch that operates on PC workstations under the Microsoft Windows NTR Server network operating system.
The LinkAge Exchange-OV/VM Connector provides a full-featured messaging connection between Microsoft Exchange and IBM OfficeVision/VM and PROFS. Users in both communities can communicate with each other effectively and efficiently. They can send and receive messages, attachments and meeting notifications. Host users can send both OV/VM and CMS notes and attachments.
The LinkAge Exchange-OV/VM Connector allows Internet users to communicate easily with OfficeVision/VM users. The Connector leverages the Microsoft's Internet Mail Connector component of Exchange Server to enable communication between OV/VM and the Internet. The Connector will automatically create OV/VM addresses for Internet users to enable them to be represented in the host environment, even if the Internet users are not registered in the Exchange directory.
"LinkAge Message Exchange (LME) already provides the world's first direct messaging connection between Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes," said Bob Jull, LinkAge president. "With the addition of the LinkAge Exchange-OfficeVision/VM Connector, LME now enables transparent communication between Exchange, OV/VM and PROFS. In addition, through Microsoft Exchange Server, host users now have access to Lotus Notes, Internet and X.400 users."
Exchange-OfficeVision/VM Connector Particulars
The Exchange-OfficeVision/VM Connector is tightly integrated with Microsoft BackOffice. In fact, the Connector carries the "Designed for Microsoft BackOffice" logo. It runs as an NT Server service under Windows NT Server version 3.51 or version 4.0. It uses Microsoft BackOffice SNA Server to connect to OV/VM. By operating within a Windows NT Server environment, the Connector fits easily into most organizations' existing or planned infrastructures.
The Connector is also closely integrated with Microsoft Exchange Server. The Connector can be completely configured from within the Exchange Administrator user interface. Messages sent to or received from the host can be tracked using Exchange's message tracking features. Supplied with the Connector is a proxy address generator that automatically creates OV/VM addresses for users registered in the Exchange directory. These OV/VM proxy addresses represent Exchange users in the host environment.
LinkAge Exchange OfficeVision/VM Connector is available directly from LinkAge. Entry level pricing for the Connector starts at $15,000 USD.
