Web Server Tracking Tool Logs Statistics Into Oracle Databases; Everyware's Bolero Ten Times Faster Than Previous Version

Business Wire, April 11, 1997

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 11, 1997--EveryWare Development Corp. (ASE:EVY.) today announced the immediate availability of Bolero Gold, the latest version of its popular Web tracking tool.

Bolero is the most complete Web logging, analysis and reporting system for the Apple Macintosh. Bolero helps management identify the activity and user demographics that can justify a company's investment in a Website. It shows not only how many visitors are using a site, but where they are coming from, what attracted them, and what they do once they get there. This new release of Bolero enables Web administrators and ISPs to log Web server statistics into Oracle databases in real time.

Bolero Gold Offers New Features

Bolero Gold supports many new features which make Bolero easier to use and administer as well as enabling Web administrators to gain more detailed reports.

These new features include:

-- Support for Oracle databases via direct SQL-Net Connections;

-- The ability to track visits as well as page impressions;

-- Site publishers can count visitors and monitor their click stream;

-- Bolero Gold supports IP address/domain name filtering;

-- Improvements in Bolero Importer's speed and efficiency.

"We recognize Bolero as the pre-eminent tool for Web log analysis available on the market," said Eric Weidl, president of Intersites of Geneva, Ill. "The fact that Bolero logs Web server activity in real time, stores the information in a SQL database, and allows for ad-hoc queries of log data gives us a significant advantage over our competition in the Internet service provider market. The release of Bolero Gold increases that advantage by giving us a magnitude of order increase in performance and the ability to track visits, not just hits."

Bolero Facilitates Web Management

Bolero is the only Web server tracking product for the Macintosh to log to a SQL database in real time, enabling Bolero users to analyze the data with any standard database tool. This new release is highly scalable, monitoring a single Web server or compiling data from multiple Web servers simultaneously.

Bolero is also highly customizable. Users can run reports on an hourly, daily, weekly or monthly basis or for any user-defined period from any Web browser. These reports are structured so that different members of management can easily view different kinds of information. A marketing communications manager, for example, might review inventory traffic coming from a particular link, whereas a product manager could see the number of visits to a product Web page.

In addition, Bolero improves Web server performance by off-loading the task of domain name resolution-translating a numeric IP address into an English language domain name. Domain name resolution is a processor-intensive task that can dramatically affect the Web server's performance. Bolero also improves Web server performance by allowing users to turn off the Web server's limited logging capabilities.

Bolero comes bundled with three data analysis tools:

-- A runtime version of EveryWare's Tango Enterprise which provides on-line, interactive, drill-down reporting, as well as various pre-defined reports.

-- Users can use Tango to view their Web server statistics and reports using any Web browser.

-- CLEAR:Access from Sterling Software which provides simple data querying for the Bolero database.

-- Voyant, from Brossco Systems, an integrated toolset for data analysis and decision support that presents information as multi-dimensional charts and graphics.

Price and Availability

Bolero is available in three versions. Bolero Bronze, priced at $995, supports a single WebSTAR server (Quarterdeck's Macintosh Web server). Bolero silver, priced at $1,795, supports unlimited WebSTAR servers. Both work with EveryWare's bundled Butler SQL database. Bolero Gold, priced at $4,995, also supports unlimited WebSTAR servers and offers support for Oracle.
