Business Wire, April 24, 1997
LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 24, 1997--Children's Cable Network, a subsidiary of Olympic Entertainment Group Inc. (Nasdaq/EBB:OYMP), Thursday announced the ``on-air sign-on'' of its newest cable-access affiliate, Jones Intercable, Channel 99, in Antelope Valley, Calif.
``We are pleased to welcome affiliate John Eisel as our 15th operating affiliate cablecasting award-winning, nonviolent children's programming from our CCN extensive programming library,'' Olympic President Michael Marcovsky said in making the announcement.
``Mr. Eisel will initially show `Dusty's Treehouse' (an eight- time Emmy award winner) and the widely respected `Kidstreet' from 3 to 4 p.m. on Channel 99 to provide classic children's programs that parents can view and enjoy along with their children,'' Marcovsky pointed out.
Eisel is a former insurance executive who has resided in Antelope Valley with his wife, Karen, and four children for the past four years. He is also the head wrestling coach at the new Lancaster High School, where he initiated the wrestling program. The family attends Lancaster Baptist Church.
Antelope Valley viewers can now be in compliance with a recent law requiring the availability of at least three hours per week of educational, nonviolent programming for children.
Eisel brings Antelope Valley into a growing affiliate web with others that have the right to be the exclusive CCN cable affiliate in a particular market.
The CCN programming -- which is licensed by yearly contracts -- is most often supported by advertising time and sponsorships by socially responsible groups seeking to support family values via high-quality children's programming. Approximately 3 million households now receive CCN.
Olympic Entertainment Group provides classic, award-winning children's programming to the Children's Cable Network for local cable access as well as producing original programming and post- production services from studios in Burbank, Calif. -0-
