Business Wire, April 8, 1997

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 8, 1997--

Red-Hot New Game Exceeds 350,000

Downloads In First Three Weeks Of Internet Release

As testimony to the tremendous interest from game-playing enthusiasts, GT Interactive Software Corp. (NASDAQ: GTIS) announced today that the Internet shareware version of its new action game Blood, has generated over 350,000 downloads since its on-line release date of March 7.

Developed by Monolith Productions, Blood has been cited as one of the most eagerly anticipated entertainment software titles of 1997. Only hours after the on-line release of the shareware version, several major web sites reported temporary server outages due to the overwhelming download counts generated by Blood. In addition, for web sites carrying the Blood shareware, it consistently topped the charts as the No. 1 daily download.

"Both the media and consumer response to the Blood shareware has been tremendous," said Holly Newman, vice president of Marketing for GT Interactive. "Garnering outstanding reviews from the media, and hundreds of thousands of shareware downloads in a matter of a few weeks certainly gives us a great deal of momentum going forward with the release of the full version in May."

Scheduled for retail release in May, GT Interactive's full version of Blood contains an impressive 42 levels of game play, over 20 blood-thirsty opponents, 12 weapons, and complete user- friendly map editor for customizing Blood.
