Lucent Technologies Adds Customer Service, CTI and Multimedia Messaging to Create MERLIN LEGEND Advanced Solutions

MURRAY HILL, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 8, 1997--Lucent Technologies today announced new computer-telephone integration capabilities -- including applications for small customer service centers -- and a powerful new multimedia messaging system for its MERLIN LEGEND(R) Communications System.

The new offer, called MERLIN LEGEND Advanced Solutions, features the new customer service and multimedia messaging applications, plus wireless communications and high-speed Internet access. MERLIN LEGEND is one of the company's leading offers for small and mid-sized businesses.

MERLIN LEGEND Advanced Solutions will incorporate computer-teleps supporting the MERLIN LEGEND with TSAPI applications include CallWare Technologies Inc., Q.SYS Internatio service center, available in June. This small call center solution integrates the robust call processingns. This new system will: -0-

-- Distribute incoming calls to call groups or agents for work

load balancing through ACD (Automatic Call Distribution),

-- Prompt callers for account information which is then passed on

to agents,

-- Provide callers in queue a primary and repeated secondary

messages, and

-- Provide center managers with printed reports and real time

status.

MULTI-MEDIA MESSAGING, HIGH-SPEED INTERNET ACCESS, AND WIRELESS

Also introduced with MERLIN LEGEND Advanced Solutions is the new Intuity(TM) AUDIX(R) VS multimedia messaging solution, a feature- and value-rich complement to Lucent's powerful Intuity AUDIX system. The Intuity AUDIX VS system includes voice messaging and automated attendant capability, plus optional fax messaging, call accounting, and networking. At mid-year, desktop control for message management will also be available.

MERLIN LEGEND Advanced Solutions also includes enhancements to MERLIN LEGEND Mail. This basic messaging offer isuch as video communications. It is the only system in its size range that allows end users to connect to the public communications network at the desktop using end-to-end Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) connections. This gives users high-speed access to the Internet (up to 128 Kbps) to take advantage of the Internet's vast information, collaboration and electronic commerce possibilitieem.
