Secure Delivery of Experian Credit Reports over the Internet
Business Wire, August 15, 1997
OAKLAND, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 15, 1997--QSpace Inc. has been offering consumers secure access to their credit reports over the Internet since July 30.
In a few careful steps at http://www.qspace.com, consumers can purchase Internet CreditReport and receive their consumer credit history in minutes.
The stringent security measures established by QSpace include identity authentication using VeriSign Inc.'s Digital ID product (a trusted third party).
"We are very mindful of consumers' concerns about security and their desire for convenience," said I.O.A. Eze, President and CEO of QSpace Inc. "So, for users who don't already have a Digital ID, we have collaborated with VeriSign to allow them to obtain a Digital ID and access their credit report in a few easy, seamless steps."
QSpace also met the security requirements of Experian and the National Computer Security Association. Before any on-line transmission of its data, Experian reviews the policies, procedures, systems and networks of companies using the Internet and requires independent certification by NCSA.
"After working with QSpace for the past year, Experian is confident that credit information from our database will be delivered to consumers securely and safely," said Terry McComas, Vice President of Experian's National Resource Center. "As consumers increasingly use the Web for a variety of electronic purchases, Experian has responsibly and conscientiously helped meet their needs for real-time access to their own credit history."
Through an on-line, interactive process, QSpace will also explain to consumers the codes and industry terms used in the credit reports. Consumers with existing Digital IDs may obtain their own Internet CreditReport at www.qspace.com for $3. For those needing to obtain Digital IDs, a special introductory rate of $7.50 will secure both ID and credit report (a $27.95 value). The VeriSign ID may then be used for a variety of other Internet transactions. -0-
Note to Editors: The credit report offered by QSpace is an edited version that credit grantors purchase. Account numbers and consumer Social Security Numbers are either truncated or suppressed. It is not the "plain English" version introduced by Experian formerly TRW Information Systems & Services in April 1993, that replaced columns of numbers and codes with narrative descriptions.
