Quebecor Communications Inc. Acquires Diffulivre Inc. and Editions du Trecarre

MONTREAL--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 21, 1997--(ME, TSE QBR.A., ME, TSE QBR.B., AMEX PQB.) Founded in 1981, Diffulivre Inc., is a dynamic company that comprises about fifteen publishers of which the most important are Bordas, Dunod, Sybex and Editions du Trecarre.

Diffulivre sells a list of about 8,000 titles on the Canadian market.

Editions du Trecarre has experienced rapid growth through the diversity and originality of its products. Its catalogue of about 600 titles covers general trade, regionalism, nature and educational markets. Editions du Trecarre also has a remarkable series of coffee-table books.

Prior to the acquisition, Diffulivre Inc., was owned by Canada Publishing Corporation and Groupe de la Cite International, S.A. Until his retirement in 1996, Diffulivre Inc., was managed by Georges Laberge, a pioneer of the book industry in Quebec. His son, Marc Laberge, who has taken over will continue to manage Diffulivre Inc. and Editions du Trecarre.
