HP and WRQ Partner to Strengthen Security for Intranet and Extranet Business Environments; Interoperability of WRQ's Reflection Secure with HP Praesidium/Security Service 1.5 Safeguards Information Access
Business Wire, August 25, 1997
CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 25, 1997--Hewlett-Packard Company today announced at HP World that, together with WRQ, a new Praesidium alliance partner, it has extended Praesidium/Security Service 1.5 security capabilities to users of WRQ's Reflection Secure PC client, allowing for secure telnet access to host information.
Security Service 1.5 and Reflection Secure will be demonstrated here at WRQ's booth, No. 1103.
"The HP and WRQ relationship broadens both companies' offerings for allowing customers to securely and easily conduct business over their networks," said Lily Lu, worldwide business manager, HP Praesidium. "The interoperability of HP Praesidium/Security Service 1.5 with Reflection Secure provides a secure solution for our mutual customers, and we look forward to continued collaboration with WRQ on future projects to bring additional solutions to the marketplace."
"While security has always been a key issue in host access, network security is now at the top of the IT agenda, given the explosive growth of intranets and extranets," said Kevin Klustner, vice president of sales and marketing for WRQ. "WRQ's Reflection Secure is built on the same important industry standards as HP's Praesidium/Security Service 1.5, and we are pleased to bring Reflection and HP customers secure, reliable and highly capable PC access to HP and other host systems, in combination with Security Service 1.5."
A key component of the HP Praesidium Enterprise Security Framework, Security Service 1.5 is an intranet security application for organizations that must protect personal or confidential information moving across extended enterprise networks. The solution enables corporations to extend their networks to partners in managing their supply chains, for instance, or in opening their enterprises to workers in remote sites for access and transmission of corporate information. Interoperability between HP Praesidium/Security Service 1.5 and Reflection Secure allows users and administrators to use telnet services to securely access host computers.
WRQ's Reflection Secure, PC-client software that supports the industry standard Kerberos v5 security protocol, is currently available for Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 3.1x, Windows 95 and Windows NT(R) desktops. As a client of Kerberos v5 Credentials servers or DCE security servers, Reflection Secure eliminates the need to send passwords over a network and protects against unauthorized use. Instead, encrypted "tickets" are exchanged between the clients and servers to validate identities and control access. Reflection Secure works with Reflection for HP and other Reflection host-access products, in combination with compatible solutions such as HP Praesidium/Security Service 1.5.
