Compaq Announces Marketing Communications Executive Appointment

Huey Appointed Vice President, Marketing Communications, Compaq

Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE:CPQ), the world's leading supplier of personal computers and servers, today announced that Steven C. Huey has been appointed Vice President of Marketing Communications, North America. He will report to James T. Schraith, Vice President and General Manager, North America.
In this role, Huey will lead the development and delivery of Compaq's integrated communication strategies to effectively position Compaq as one of the top three computer companies by the year 2000. He will be responsible for overseeing advertising, public and press relations, sports and events marketing, customized marketing, Internet relations, brand positioning and sales communications.
Huey brings to Compaq over 23 years of experience in sales and marketing with leading companies including IBM, Epson America, Zenith Data Systems and NetFRAME Systems. Most recently, he directed NetFRAME's marketing effort in its transition from a manufacturer of proprietary superservers selling directly to Fortune 1000 accounts, to a provider of continuously available, PC-compatible servers distributed through resellers.
