IES Contributes in Tulane University School of Architecture Remodeling Project

Business Wire, August 4, 1997

SANDY, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 4, 1997--Intelligent Electronic Solutions (IES) Inc. Monday announced the company collaborated with the School of Architecture at Tulane University on a residential remodeling project used as a case study for the school's architecture students.

Specifically, IES products were used to provide a renovated New Orleans home with an intelligent distribution network for voice, data, video and audio systems and equipment.

"We are very pleased to have been selected by the School of Architecture to participate in this remodeling project. This case study will give architecture students a chance to learn about efficient structured wiring products and intelligent electronic signal distribution systems. It's a great compliment to have been chosen as the 'model' product line for this unique undertaking," said Russ Warner, vice president of marketing and sales at IES Inc.

IES products will provide the 3,100 square foot remodeled home a complete network for telephones, faxes, modems, computers, cable/satellite/antennae TV, and other video systems, as well as a whole-house audio distribution system. Products installed in the home include a HotWired 8 FutureProof(TM) Interactive Network (FIN(TM)) Panel, an Audio Node "0" Panel, an Ethernet Hub, SpeedWrap(TM) Cable, and wall receptacles from IES.

Specifically, the house was wired home-run style with IES' SpeedWrap Cable, which includes Category 5 twisted pair (telephone/data), quad shield RG6 coax, and multi-mode fiber optic cables. IES FutureProof(TM) Interactive Receptacles (FIRs(TM)), which are specialized wall plates, were installed in six rooms to provide the in-room connection to each electronic signal network.

As a result, the home will have multiple locations for telephone, fax, modem, and cable/satellite/antennae TV signals, as well as support for an in-home computer network. Also, the IES Audio Node "0" distribution panel will provide the foundation for a multi-room audio system with separate room controls and speakers.

"We were very impressed with the IES product line and its capabilities. As a result, we have created an efficient residence wired for today's technologies and those anticipated in the future. It is important to expose future architects to emerging construction technology as a basis for their respective educational and professional careers," noted Stephen Verderber, Arch.D. Professor, Tulane University, School of Architecture and Co-Principal, R-2 ARCH/Los Angeles and New Orleans.

IES designs and manufactures a complete signal distribution system that collects and intelligently distributes electronic signals such as computer and computer network, telephone, fax, modem, ISDN, cable and satellite TV, audio, video, digital, and security for homes and businesses.

These innovative products in combination give buildings and homes ready access to the latest in computing, automation, entertainment and security, and will FutureProof(TM) the investment for emerging technologies.
