International standard ensures Pacific Rim customers receive
high quality contract manufacturing service
Micron Custom Manufacturing Services, Inc., today announced that its Penang, Malaysia, assembly facility has received ISO 9001 certification. This certification covers board-level design, engineering and manufacturing services of printed circuit board and system-level assemblies at Micron Custom Manufacturing Services' facility in Penang, Malaysia. The ISO 9001 Certificate has been awarded by KEMA Registered Quality, Inc., for Micron's quality system. Micron's Nampa, Idaho, facility has been ISO 9001 certified since January 1994 and its Durham, North Carolina, facility received certification in July 1996.
Accepted by 90 countries around the world, ISO 9001 is the most comprehensive level of certification in the internationally recognized ISO 9000 family of specifications for quality assurance management systems. ISO 9000 gives customers and suppliers a single set of guidelines that are accepted worldwide and that can be followed to achieve a definable level of quality. This certification is necessary to maintain a competitive edge in the industry and implies that MCMS' systems for accepting orders, reviewing customers' specifications, manufacturing and testing products, and delivering those products to its customers are controlled and should produce consistent results.
"Achieving ISO 9001 certification in Penang reaffirms to our customers that the processes and systems used at Micron CMS in providing global contract manufacturing services will deliver the quality they deserve and expect," said Jess Asla, MCMS Vice President, Operations. "We are now ISO certified at all of our manufacturing sites globally. In addition to our quality systems, MCMS focuses on maintaining consistent manufacturing processes, information systems, and equipment platforms worldwide to bring strategic advantages to our customers. I'm very proud of our Penang team members for their relentless dedication and commitment to quality and consistency."
MCMS provides a full range of services for the manufacture of custom complex printed circuit boards, memory modules and system level assemblies, including design, product engineering, procurement and material management, assembly, test engineering, quality assurance and just-in-time delivery or end-order fulfillment. MCMS focuses its marketing efforts on original equipment manufacturers in the high-growth networking, telecommunications and computer system industries that generally require custom board and system level design, assembly and test, short manufacturing lead times at competitive pricing, and a high degree of quality and technology. Micron Custom Manufacturing Services, Inc., is a wholly owned subsidiary of Micron Electronics, Inc., and has operations in Nampa, ID, Durham, NC, Colfontaine, Belgium and Penang, Malaysia.
