Mitsubishi Consumer Electronics America Inc. Announces Shipment of WB-2000 WebTV Plus Receiver

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 4, 1997--Mitsubishi Consumer Electronics America Inc. (MCEA) Thursday announced the shipment of the WB-2000 WebTV Plus Receiver to its dealer network. This product enables television viewers to access World Wide Web subscription services provided by the WebTV Network.
Combined with a television and a telephone line, the WB-2000 WebTV Plus Receiver provides seamless TV and Internet content integration through such features as localized TV listings and E-mail. The terminal incorporates a 1.1 gigabyte hard disk drive, a 56kbps modem using Rockwell K56flex technology, a built-in TV tuner with WebPIP "picture-in-picture" capability and a printer port. Mitsubishi is bundling a wireless keyboard with the terminal and standard infrared remote control device for a MSRP of $379 (dealer prices may vary).
WebTV Networks Inc. is now offering consumers a $100 rebate on purchases of WebTV systems. Consumers who purchase a WebTV unit between Sept. 16, 1997 and Dec. 31, 1997 and sign up for six months of service with the WebTV Network will receive a $100 rebate check directly from WebTV Networks.
