Connectix Corporation Announces Surf Express — Surf the Web up to 36 Times Faster! Groundbreaking New Utility Accelerates Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator
Business Wire, Dec 8, 1997
SAN MATEO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 8, 1997--Connectix Corporation(R), the technology innovators who developed QuickCam and Virtual PC, today announced the first product in its Internet Utility family, Surf Express(TM) for Windows 95, Windows NT 4, and the Mac OS.
Surf Express uses the latest advances in Web caching and proxy technology to accelerate both Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator up to 36 times faster(a).
Using three exclusive technologies, Surf Express gives Web users comprehensive acceleration and ease-of-use:
-- FASTore(TM) technology uses high performance disk caching to load stored Web pages up to 36 times faster than Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator alone(a)
Related Results
-- SmartFetch(TM) technology automatically and consistently delivers up-to-date versions of users' most frequently visited pages
-- FindCache(TM) technology enables users to quickly locate pages using key words or phrases contained in recently viewed Web pages
Surf Express is the ultimate utility for any user looking for faster Web browsing. Designed for both Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator, it supports versions 3.0 and later of the world's most popular browsers.
Unlike other Web accelerators, which usually rely on "prefetching" -- keeping a modem busy downloading random pages -- Surf Express uses a combination of advanced caching and network proxy technologies to load users' commonly visited pages up to 36 times faster(a).
"The innovative web caching and proxy technology Connectix has developed sets Surf Express apart from other web accelerators, because it provides significant speed and key features that will enable consumers to efficiently identify, browse and retrieve Web information, thus saving time and money," said Bonnie Brooks, Associate Analyst, Personal Computer Systems, Creative Strategies.
"Connectix is pleased to introduce an affordable consumer product that combines industrial strength proxy and cache technology with our award-winning ease of use. The power of Surf Express redefines the Web browsing experience for modem and ISDN users." said Taran Reese, Surf Express product manager.
