Business Wire, Feb 14, 1997
TUSTIN, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 14, 1997--Quality Systems Inc. (NASDAQ:QSII) Friday announced that it has signed an agreement with Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery to implement QSI's dental school and faculty practice management system at the university.
The QSI system will centralize the operations of both the dental school and faculty practice by providing practice management as well as pre/post doctoral software functionality. These applications include appointment scheduling, treatment planning, utilization reporting, billing and accounts receivable, student grading, patient/student assignment and rotation scheduling.
The system, which operates on an IBM RS/6000, will connect the dental school and faculty practice and is scalable to grow with the school.
The dental school, established in 1917 in New York City, is ranked among the top dental schools in the country. The dental school includes 390 students pursuing careers in dentistry. Approximately 57 full-time and more than 100 part-time faculty members contribute to the university dental school's teaching and research programs.
The school is located at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in the city of New York, and runs a busy clinical service handling more than 75,000 patient visits per year.
Ronnie Myers, assistant dean of patient care activities for the school, said: "We selected Quality Systems to provide our practice management system because of their proven track record in working with dental schools throughout the country. We also looked for a company with the financial and personnel resources to insure continued support and availability to meet our future needs.
"Furthermore, with our continuing plans to bring leading-edge technology to our students, we felt that QSI's future visions best matched our objectives."
Robert J. Beck, executive vice president at QSI added: "We are extremely pleased to be working with such a prestigious dental school as Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery. Columbia is a forward-thinking technically oriented school and, in addition to our dental school implementation, we are embarking on a number of Internet activities with them as well.
"We believe the QSI system is ideal for the school's increasingly complex needs, and we look forward to supporting Columbia in achieving its teaching objectives."
Quality Systems is one of the leading developers and providers of computer-based practice management systems for medical and dental group practices, with a customer base of more than 500 clients in 45 states, Canada and Saudi Arabia.
