Business Wire, Feb 17, 1997
MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 17, 1997--Navarre Corporation (Nasdaq: NAVR), a leading national distributor of music, computer software and interactive CD-ROM products, today announced they have been recognized as a business who has made a significant contribution to the development and growth of vocational special needs education.
The award for "Major Support Services and Contributions" was presented by the Minnesota Vocational Association of Special Needs Personnel (MVASNP) at their bi-annual conference. More than 100 individuals with physical or mental disabilities have had on-the-job training opportunities at Navarre. Many of these individuals participate in the Vector Program, which provides transition services and training to young adults with disabilities to help them progress to live and work independently within the community. Other special needs programs promoted by the company include Partnership Resources, RISE, Inc. and Opportunity Workshop.
"We are extremely proud to accept this prestigious award," says Eric Paulson, President and CEO. "We have strived to cultivate a company culture that is accepting of diverse individuals, which includes a sincere commitment to working with programs and employees with special needs."
The MVASNP attributes Navarre's long-term commitment to the leadership of Eric Paulson and Charles Cheney, Executive Vice President and CFO.
