Business Wire, Feb 20, 1997

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 20, 1997--V-Realm Builder, the award-winning VRML authoring package from Integrated Data Systems, has been named a "top seller" on BuyDirect.com, the online software sales and distribution site of CNET Direct Inc., a subsidiary of CNET: The Computer Network.

Buyers can download copies of V-Realm Builder, listed under the graphics/multimedia software section, through secured credit card transactions on the Web site located at http://www.BuyDirect.com .

"We're very happy to have high-quality products like V-Realm Builder on the BuyDirect.com site," said Kathryn Weller, director of sales for electronic commerce at CNET. "Through our site, PC users who are interested in VRML development can quickly and easily download this award-winning package."

V-Realm Builder also has been chosen by Diamond Multimedia Systems, Inc., a leading provider of Internet multimedia solutions, to be included as part of a package with its new FireGL 1000 accelerator board designed for entry-level professional 3-D graphics applications.

"By including V-Realm Builder with the FireGL 1000, PC users will be able to immediately experience the full benefits of 3-D hardware acceleration and VRML world creation," said David Watkins, vice president and general manager of Diamond Multimedia's Visual Systems Division. "We chose V-Realm Builder because we wanted to include a product that meets the same high standards as our award-winning FireGL series."

V-Realm Builder is an OpenGL-based VRML authoring tool that allows professionals to create 3D objects and worlds with support for the new VRML 2.0 (virtual reality modeling language) standard. By authoring completely in native VRML code, V-Realm Builder allows developers to directly edit VRML nodes without requiring any hand coding and to build advanced worlds without editing the source file. V-Realm Builder also produces the smallest VRML file sizes available, resulting in much shorter download times, an important fact in designing 3-D Web sites.

"V-Realm Builder merges extensive VRML authoring capabilities with a new level of simplicity for PC users," said Mike Hilgenberg, vice president of sales and marketing at IDS. "This potent combination is fueling ever increasing sales to those interested in creating 3-D models and VRML Web worlds with the quality of OpenGL rendering."

Named a PC Magazine "Editors' Choice," V-Realm Builder features translators for popular 3D modeling packages and extensive libraries that provide for the storage and reuse of VRML objects, textures and materials. Over 600 models are included, allowing users to create captivating VRML scenes immediately.

IDS will be showcasing V-Realm Builder at next week's VRML '97 conference in Monterey, Calif (Booth No. 3) and at next month's Spring Internet World trade show in Los Angeles (Booth No. 234). VRML '97 runs from February 24-26 and Internet World takes place on March 12-14.
