Mail Boxes Etc. President James H. Amos, Jr. elected to company's Board

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 27, 1997--Mail Boxes Etc. (MBE) (NASDAQ:MAIL) announced today that it has increased the size of its Board of Directors by one member, and has elected James H. Amos, Jr., MBE president and chief operating officer, to fill the new seat. Amos, former chief executive officer of The Brice Group in Dallas, joined MBE in September, 1996.

"I am very excited by this vote of confidence and the opportunity to participate further in MBE's leadership," said Amos. "Being a member of the board adds a new dimension to my responsibilities as President and Chief Operating Officer. In a separate action, the Board also named A.W. (Tony) DeSio, vice chairman of the Board and MBE's chief executive officer, to serve as chairman of the executive committee. The other two members of the executive committee are Chairman of the Board Michael Dooling and Board member James F. Kelly.
