Business Wire, Feb 3, 1997
AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 3, 1997--Progressive System Technologies (PST), a leading manufacturer of substrate automation and isolation technology for the semiconductor and flat panel display industries, today announced they received an order for more than $1 million from dpiX, a Xerox PARC New Enterprise company.
PST delivered two Programmable Automated Substrate Sorters (PASS), minienvironments and equipment for automation of process tools. dpiX will use the PST systems to produce their new display screens by year-end. The PASS allow automated robotic substrate transfers and sorting in a Class 1 environment. PST minienvironments enable manufacturers to achieve dramatic reductions in airborne and surface particulates.
dpiX designs and manufactures flat panel display and image capture products and leverages advanced thin-film technology (TFT) developed at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC). dpiX has demonstrated industry-leading resolutions with active-matrix displays that emulate the printed page. dpiX flat panel products are fabricated in Palo Alto, Calif., and are now being marketed for use in fighter planes and to hospitals as a replacement for x-ray film.
"PST designs substrate automation and isolation systems that deliver the highest throughput and minimize the cost of ownership," said PST's president, Tony DiNapoli. "With the ever increasing need for contamination control, PST enables companies like dpiX to bring their innovative products to market ahead of the competition."
Progressive System Technologies was founded in 1990 and is headquartered in Austin, Texas with a sales support facility in Tempe, Ariz. The company is privately held with 130 employees occupying a 60,000 square foot manufacturing site. PST continues to set the standard with technologically advanced, state-of-the-art equipment that combines science, art and intelligent engineering.
