American Telephone Network settles suit with AT&T

Business Wire, Feb 5, 1997

BASKING RIDGE, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 5, 1997--AT&T said today it has reached a favorable settlement of a lawsuit brought in 1993 by American Telephone Network (ATN), a company that previously bought and resold telecommunications services from AT&T.

The suit was settled privately after United States District Court Judge Robert Propst granted AT&T's pretrial motions dismissing most of ATN's claims in federal district court in Birmingham, Ala. Under the settlement, all claims have been withdrawn and ATN is required to pay an undisclosed amount to AT&T.

The lawsuit was filed in 1993 when ATN alleged unfair treatment from AT&T. AT&T disputed the claim and stated that ATN had failed to pay for network services provided by AT&T.

Marc Manly, AT&T's vice president for law and solicitor general, said AT&T is pleased with the result. "We are committed to treating resellers of our services with fairness and integrity, just as we treat all our customers," he said. "The record in this case and others demonstrates that we've met that commitment."
