Pro Tech Communications Inc. begins thrust into massive telecommunications/wireless market
Business Wire, Jan 13, 1997
FORT PIERCE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 13, 1997--Keith Larkin, founder of Plantronics Inc. (NYSE:PLT), the world's largest manufacturer of Telephone Headsets, and also founder of ACS Wireless, the second largest, with combined sales of $210 million in 1995, announced his newest venture.
Keith Larkin, president of Pro Tech Communications Inc. (NASDAQ/BB:PCTU) is now moving into the $300 million annual telephone headset market with three new product lines created to meet the expanding potential in the telecommunications/wireless market. Competitive pricing coupled with multiple adaptability of all products to a broad range of consumer applications are intended to offer a major advantage over competitive manufacturers.
During this past year, Pro Tech has developed financial strength, a marketing network, and production capabilities. Contributing to this development has been the manufacturing and marketing of its current line of headsets for use in commercial applications of Panasonic, Motorola, and HME wireless communications equipment.
In addition Pro Tech is negotiating an acquisition of a highly profitable company involved in the design and marketing of products compatible with Pro Tech's activities which would have a strong impact on sales and earnings.
To develop its market potential, the company established a U.S. wide distributor network intended to channel its lines of headsets to a broad and highly variable market for applications including 1) Fast Food Restaurants, the company currently supplies McDonalds restaurants, 2) Telephone operating companies, 3) Professional call-centers, 4) Business offices, 5) Government, etc. (A special Pro Tech headset design has been selected by NASA for use by astronauts on the proposed Space Station.)
Pro Tech is now poised to move into an intense effort to capitalize on its potential. The present overall market for all applications of communications headsets is estimated to be in excess of $500 million in annual sales. It is the objective of Pro Tech to reach $25 - 30 million in annual sales in three years and a 20% market share in five years. Based on past experience with his two previous headset companies, Larkin feels that Pro Tech at this point, is in a stronger position than either of the earlier companies in regard to the achievement of these potential goals in growth and profitability.
