DISA selects CA's Examine to perform security audits for Department of Defense Megacenters nationwide
Business Wire, Jan 22, 1997
ISLANDIA, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 22, 1997--Computer Associates International, Inc. today announced that the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) will use CA-Examine to perform systems security, integrity, and verification audits at Department of Defense Megacenters running MVS.
DISA began a series of systems vulnerability assessments under a program known as the Security Readiness Review (SRR) in 1994. The results of the SRR underscored the increasing importance of standardization and the difficulties being presented by the use of diverse, non-standardized security implementations.
CA-Examine helps identify and eliminate MVS integrity exposures, viruses, trap doors, Trojan horses and logic bombs that can destroy production dependability and circumvent security controls. "CA-Examine provides information through the use of expert systems techniques and an English language interface," said Mike Miller, CA senior vice president of Federal Sales. "It also identifies potential problems and suggests corrective actions."
CA-Examine supports the Product Validation Interface (PVI) that establishes traceability of systems software products, and identifies proper installation requirements for a growing number of Computer Associates systems products. The CA-Examine analysis and display functions save valuable time for managers, security administrators, operations staff, quality assurance personnel, and others who need to know current MVS system configuration, options, parameters and status information.
