Entegrity Solutions Launches Security Platform; Industry's First Comprehensive Software Development Environment for Integrating Security-Enabled Applications Across Corporate Enterprises
Business Wire, Jan 27, 1997
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 27, 1997--Information security provider, Entegrity Solutions Corporation, launched its Security Development Platform (SDP) and a related family of modular products at RSA's Data Security Conference here, today, in San Francisco.
SDP, an open, standards-based software development platform, enables system integrators, software developers, and corporate application development teams to build fully integrated security solutions across an enterprise without having to become expert in security systems and related standards or complex cryptographic algorithms.
Entegrity Solutions' development platform will work with existing or planned, future applications. Since it is fully scaleable, organizations can integrate security features locally and then extend these capabilities into other areas or departments, as needed. SDP and an initial set of core products are available for purchase or licensing now. Entegrity Solutions also offers comprehensive consulting services and training provided by a select group of recognized experts on enterprise security.
"Until now, there's been no simple way to integrate discrete applications under a single, unified approach that ensures the security and integrity of information across an enterprise," said David Martin, company founder, president and CEO, Entegrity Solutions. "Developers and integrators have had to cobble together secure systems using point solutions without any common, standards-based strategy," Martin continued.
"Despite explosive growth in Internet- and intranet-based applications, along with the emerging field of electronic commerce, users have been reticent to share -- and rightly so -- sensitive corporate or personal data electronically," said Tim Sloane, director of Messaging Applications for the Aberdeen Group, a Boston-based market research firm.
"We believe that SDP delivers a solid development platform that responds to users' concerns about guaranteeing the security and integrity of information exchanged through inter- and intracompany communications. Solutions such as SDP will make enterprise business safer to conduct electronically, and electronic payment and international electronic commerce easier to implement," Sloane stated.
Highly Customized, Enterprise-wide Solutions
Entegrity meets an enterprise's multiple security needs including control of user access, authentication, and data encryption, with solutions tailored to meet specific requirements. These solutions may range from entry-level sign-on and access control to complete enterprise-wide systems based on public-key cryptography with the highest levels of security commercially available.
Once the enterprise is secured, information integrity can be preserved in any format: contracts, email, money, and other digital forms. This protection can be applied to all operations of the enterprise at all locations including remote sites as well as mobile users. Two key elements comprise Entegrity's security system solutions: SDP, the company's development platform, and a set of modular products.
Flexible, Open Platform for Easy Integration
The technology platform includes state-of-the-art standards-based security interfaces and provides strong cryptographic capabilities including digital signatures and an extensive library of cryptographic algorithms. The technology is compatible with UNIX and Windows operating systems, and the object-oriented C programming language offers a high degree of portability to different platforms. The decision to use RSA public key technology gives Entegrity a solid cryptographic foundation on which to build systems for electronic commerce applications.
SDP's unique, open architecture makes it easy for developers, system integrators, and users to integrate Entegrity security products into existing IT infrastructures, regardless of their complexity. Additionally, Entegrity application programming interfaces (APIs) are based on existing international standards so that third-party products can be integrated easily into Entegrity solutions.
This means that developers, IT infrastructure suppliers, and original equipment manufacturers can quickly embed Entegrity security products into their applications and hardware offerings, enabling them to accelerate delivery and improve the effectiveness of the information security systems they offer.
Complete Set of Fully Integrated Products
Entegrity offers a versatile set of products that works separately or in combination to meet diverse security needs. These products provide seamless integration with all the elements of an enterprise-wide security solution including smart cards, digital certificates, digital signatures, and Internet browsers. Three products were announced today at RSA's Data Security Conference. Entegrity plans to introduce additional products later this year.
