Corel Makes Creative and High-Quality Video Editing Affordable with Corel LUMIERE Suite

Corel Corporation and its subsidiaries today began shipping Corel LUMIERE(TM) Suite, a non-linear digital video editing application for Windows(R) 95 and Windows NT(R) 4.0. Corel Lumiere Suite enables users to assemble clips from a variety of media sources, including video, audio and still images, and use the tools, transitions and effects provided to create high-quality movies. These movies can then be used in multimedia presentations or output to video. Available for a suggested retail price of $99 U.S./$129 Cdn., the package includes Corel MOTION 3D 7 for quick and easy creation of 3D objects and text, Corel PHOTO-PAINT(TM) 6, and a host of audio and video clips and fonts.

Corel LUMIERE offers the following features:

- The ability to drag-and-drop media clips and transitions into a

video project.

- Video and Audio controllers for trimming imported clips to a

desired length.

- Motion controls that enable the user to scale, rotate, distort

or move video clips along a prescribed path.

- A titler window which allows the user to create title screens

for the video project that include both text and

graphic elements.

The resulting title file is treated like any other media clip, and can therefore have transition, motion, transparency and filter effects applied to them.

- Transparency controls to superimpose images on top of each other. Using key types such as Chroma and Luminance, unwanted portions of a clip can be keyed out of the video to allow underlying tracks to show through.

- Over 60 transition effects such as Wipes, Dissolves, Splits and Zooms are provided to enable the user to creatively move from one video clip to another, therefore avoiding sharp or harsh cuts between segments. As well, the user may adjust transition parameters such as direction or number of bands.

- Over 60 video filters are available to provide sophisticated effects to video clips or still images. The filters offer extensive refinement over color adjustment and transformation, noise reduction and control, as well as series of 2D, 3D and Render effects. Filters can be setup to apply different settings to the start and end of the clip, so that the effect is animated through the time that the clip plays.

Corel LUMIERE also provides users with a unique feature to create custom music in the form of a SoundSound(R) Wizard. Using this wizard, users can choose from six music categories including Jazz, Latin, Pop, Rock, Country and Classical, and three sound effect categories including Audience, Techo Loops and Planet Scapes. Each category can have up to 10 styles which offer variations of the original track. With the wizard, users can also create a sound file (WAV) that runs for a custom length of time, therefore avoiding abrupt cut-offs or the need for fade outs. Following a simple five-step process, users can quickly and easily create a soundtrack to compliment the video portion of their project.

Minimum System Requirements

Minimum system requirements include a Pentium P90 (P120 or higher recommended), 16 MB of RAM (32 recommended), VGA monitor, double-speed CD-ROM drive (4x recommended), and a mouse. Users will require 72-114 MB of hard disk space, depending on configuration, and a video capture card is recommended.
