World's First Interactive Music Video on the Web; Billboard Magazine's Jazz video of the year created in Superscape 3D Web software for CNET and Intel Mediadome Web Site
Business Wire, Jan 27, 1997
PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 27, 1997-- Superscape's virtual reality authoring and 3D Web software is featured on MEDIADOME.COM (http://www.mediadome.com) in the latest `Webisode' with the arrival of the world's first interactive music video on the Internet.
Based on Herbie Hancock's hit song `The Melody', the Webisode has been created with Superscape VRT authoring software. Visitors to the site use Superscape's Viscape 3D Web browser to explore individual worlds, designed as an urban landscape, which build up into a completely interactive music video.
The Melody tune has been created as a series of individual segments, which can be downloaded sequentially. Each segment contains a musical instrument, which is visually represented in the virtual world. To maintain interest, each segment also includes a series of challenges, which the user has to overcome before downloading the next section, such as circumventing roadblocks, checking under abandoned cars, reading graffiti and climbing fire escapes. Once all the challenges have been overcome, users can mix the song according to their individual taste.
Andy Tait, VP Strategic Relations at Superscape said: "The Herbie Hancock Webisode follows straight on from the last feature on Mediadome, Turbulence, which was also built using our software. We are continuing to work closely with Intel to promote the development of the `Connected PC' as a new medium for experiencing compelling music video content and Superscape certainly has the definitive technology in this area."
Mediadome is the digital stage that merges today's hottest media properties with cutting edge technology to create a brand new experience in Web-based entertainment. The programming at Mediadome changes every two weeks. Herbie Hancock is connected to the Virtual World Wide Web (vwww), a global network of interlined virtual worlds on the Internet. -0- For further information, please contact:
