Motorola and RSA Data Security announce licensing agreement

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. and REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Jan. 28, 1997--Motorola (NYSE:MOT) and RSA Data Security, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Security Dynamics Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:SDTI), Tuesday announced the signing of a licensing agreement under which RSA will provide security technology to Motorola.

The agreement allows for RSA's intellectual property as well as BSAFE and TIPEM toolkits to be utilized in various applications throughout all Motorola business segments.

RSA's BSAFE cryptography toolkit will provide Motorola software developers with various options for adding encryption and authentication features to an application. The toolkit includes modules for numerous encryption techniques including: RSA, DES, RC2 and RC4. The toolkit also supports digital signatures and certificates. TIPEM will allow Motorola programmers to develop secure, interoperable messaging applications utilizing encryption and digital signature technology.
