IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 10, 1997--Advanced Logic Research Inc. (NASDAQ:AALR) Thursday announced the industry's highest Intel-architecture TPC-C performance level ever achieved on its Windows NT-based ALR Revolution 6X6 Corporate Business Server.

Based on independently audited tests as defined by the Transaction Processing Performance Council (TPC), the ALR Revolution 6X6, a six-way symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) Pentium Pro-based system, delivered an unprecedented score of 10,665.53 transactions per minute (tpmC) at an impressive price/performance of $48.10 per tpmC. The ALR Revolution 6X6 was configured with six Intel 200-MHz Pentium Pro processors running Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0 Enterprise Edition and Microsoft SQL Server 6.5 Enterprise Edition.

"ALR's record-breaking TPC-C results reaffirm our industry-leading position as well as the industrial strength and performance of the ALR Revolution 6X6 server. To our enterprise customers, ALR is the obvious performance leader in scalability, high-availability and capacity for Windows NT enterprise-class server solutions," said Gene Lu, president and chief executive officer, ALR.

"We continue to offer our price-sensitive customers extraordinary value for their server investment. Compared to a four-way system, the ALR Revolution 6X6 delivers phenomenal performance under Windows NT Server. This high performance return on investment makes the ALR six-way server system the optimal solution for transaction-rich applications," added Lu.

With a total five-year system cost of $513,001, the ALR Revolution 6X6 six processor-based server system delivers superior transaction processing performance and price/performance. Total value of system reflects the cost of acquisition and ownership of the system, including hardware and software maintenance and extended warranties for both server and clients. ALR's tpmC score of 10,665.53 touts a performance rating unsurpassed by any Intel architecture-based system, using any database or any operating system. -0-
