Diamond Multimedia's K56flex Modems Provide Epson
Computers with Reliable, High-Speed Internet Connectivity
Diamond Multimedia Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: DIMD), a leader in the Internet multimedia acceleration market, today announced that its SupraExpress 56i modem for windows-based computers is currently shipping with Epson's new Vividy series of computers in Japan.
Epson's new Vividy VM2300 PC with Diamond SupraExpress 56i delivers a complete color imaging solution to end users and is now available through leading PC retail stores in Japan.
Diamond Multimedia designed the SupraExpress(TM) 56i analog internal modem from the ground up to provide data download speeds of up to 56,000 bits per second (bps). Easily upgradeable over the Internet to the latest firmware revisions, SupraExpress 56 modems also include static RAM for accelerated processing, high-speed data line drivers for up to 230 Kbps throughput, and a new phone line interface for clear signal reception. In addition, SupraExpress 56 modems incorporate Rockwell and Lucent's K56flex technology, which is broadly supported by major industry leaders such as Ascend, Cisco, Compaq and Hewlett Packard.
"Diamond has a strong record of being an early provider of innovative features and technology," said Haruo Kuribayashi, sales promoter of Epson Hanbai Co. Ltd. "Diamond's award-winning SupraExpress 56 modems are optimized for high-speed downloads from the Web and are the perfect complement to Epson's state of the art multimedia Vividy PC."
"Diamond has a long-standing relationship with Epson and welcomes the opportunity to deliver innovative 56,000 bps technology to PC users in Japan," said Jim Cady, vice president and general manager for Diamond Multimedia's Communications Division. "Diamond's SupraExpress 56i modem was designed from the ground up to deliver easy online upgradeability and to optimize K56flex performance."
