J. Douglas Whelan to Become President and COO of Wyman-Gordon

NORTH GRAFTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 23, 1997-- Wyman-Gordon Company announced today that J. Douglas Whelan will become president and chief operating officer of Wyman-Gordon Company on Oct. 15, 1997. As previously announced, David P. Gruber, currently president and CEO, will become chairman and CEO at that time.
Whelan, currently the president of Wyman-Gordon Forgings Division, will expand his operating responsibilities to both forgings and castings operations, while Gruber will concentrate more effort on the future development of the company. In announcing Whelan's appointment, Gruber stated, "Under Doug's leadership, the Forgings business has achieved significant renewal, cost reduction and growth."
Whelan has a BSc degree from Queen's University, Ontario, Canada and a MBA degree from University of Houston. He joined Wyman-Gordon as president of the Forgings Division in 1994 when Wyman-Gordon acquired Cameron Forge Products Company from Cooper Industries Inc.
