Company Produces 100 Million Stamps To Meet Demand
Avery Dennison Corp. Wednesday announced that it has begun shipping 100 million additional "Bugs Bunny" commemorative stamps to post offices nationwide. To keep up with demand for the highly popular 32-cent stamp, the Postmaster General authorized a reprint less than a month after the stamp was first issued in May.
Avery Dennison initially printed 265 million "Bugs" stamps, which was the largest run in the U.S. Postal Service's commemorative program this year. This reprint, combined with an initial printing overrun of 13 million stamps, brings the total number of "Bugs" stamps issued to date to 378 million.
Featured in the USPS's recently launched Stampers program to reinvigorate stamp collecting among children, "Bugs" was the natand converted by the company's Security Printins and label systems. Based in Pasadena, Calif., the company makes a wide range of products for consumer and industrial markets, including Avery-brand office automation products, Fasson-brand self-adhesive materials, peel-and-stick postage stamps, on-battery tester labels, automated retail tag and labeling systems, and specialty tapes and chemicals. Approximately 15,900 employees in 200 manufacturing and sales facilities in 36 countries produce and sell Avery Dennison products in 89 countries worldwide.
