Information Systems budgets increase at 57 percent of sites

CARLSBAD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 10, 1997--The 1997 Information Systems Spending report survey, compiled by Computer Economics Inc., noted for providing strategic intelligence to information systems executives for more than 18 years, determined that 57 percent of information systems centers increased their budgets this year.
This Computer Economics survey of over 500 senior information technology managers and chief information officers also found that 27 percent of IS shops experienced budget cuts and 16 percent had no change in their budgets.
Managing editor Ed Pasahow says that the largest budget allocation went to hardware acquisition, indicating that organizations are investing in their infrastructure. The Information Systems Spending report survey shows that spending on networks, especially all types of client and server hardware grew at a spectacular rate. The second highest area of budget allocation was on IS staffing.
