Visual DataFlex to be launched at New York PC Expo

Business Wire, June 16, 1997

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 16, 1997--

For developers who need true database

applications programming power

Visual DataFlex (VDF), the Windows version of Data Access Corporation's elegant suite of database development tools, will be introduced and demonstrated in the Microsoft Partners Pavilion at the New York PC Expo tomorrow through Thursday June 19, 1997. The product has completed extensive beta testing by hundreds of developers and is available now.

VDF provides the outstanding development capabilities delivered by all previous versions of DataFlex in the easy-to- use Windows 95 or NT environments. VDF inherits the maturity of DataFlex's object-oriented 4GL and RDBMS, which was the first commercial product of it's type in 1991. The product is especially well-suited to multi-user environments and complex, transaction-oriented applications. This means that whether the application involves four or 400 users, DataFlex delivers excellent speed and reliability. And, amazingly, up to 250 data files can be involved in a single relational structure, with each file able to relate to every other file.

".in a nutshell, it blew my socks off! I have never seen such a quantum leap in a product. It was so impressive that I have made up my mind to lobby my current employer to implement VDF or move to a VDF shop," said Kent Smith, Programmer/Systems Analyst, PolyPhaser Corporation in Minden, Nevada.

In an independent analysis of Visual DataFlex, The Butler Group made the following findings:

-- The DataFlex DBMS provides many features for the language

not available in similar competitive products.

-- In key areas such as OOP, and multi-level object nesting

delegation, Visual DataFlex would appear to provide a better

solution.

-- Butler Group believes that the features of Visual

DataFlex make it an excellent product and one which is quite

capable of delivering substantial and complex IT applications.

Data Access Corporation has developed productivity- enhancing software tools for twenty years. Established in Miami, Florida in 1976, the privately-held company now boasts a worldwide distribution network, marketing its product line in 38 countries with over two million users. -0-
