SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 16, 1997--Diamond Multimedia Systems Inc. (NASDAQ:DIMD), a leader in Internet multimedia acceleration, today announced that its Stealth 3D family of media accelerators continue to be recognized by the industry's leading PC publications with awards and accolades from VAR Business, PC World, PC Magazine and PC Computing.
Diamond Multimedia's Stealth 3D 3000 VRAM accelerator, designed for high-performance business, professional graphics and entertainment applications, received PC World's "1997 World Class Award" which "honors the PC industry's best and brightest products and offers readers a one-stop shopping guide to the best hardware and software money can buy."
Featured in the July 1997 issue, PC World editors stated, "When it comes to graphics accelerators, Diamond Multimedia's Stealth 3D 3000 series zooms to the top. Diamond's board gets extra points for photo-realistic, high-resolution color and the ability to play full-screen, full-motion video."
The Stealth 3D 3000 was also selected as VAR Business' "Hot Products" winner in the Multimedia Cards category for 1997, featured in the May 15, 1997 issue. "Hot Product" winners were selected based on a survey of 750 VARs taken from VAR Business Magazine's circulation database.
VARs were asked to identify their preferred vendor and model in each of 20 product categories as well as key features and specifications that make them stand out from the rest of the market. The Stealth 3D 3000 was noted for, "combining 2D performance and a full-featured 3D rendering engine, allowing for full-motion, full-screen, TV-quality digital video playback."
Diamond's Stealth 3D 2000 Pro, the newest addition to the Stealth line, received an "Honorable Mention" in PC Magazine's June 24, 1997 review of graphics accelerators and a "four-star rating" in PC Computing's June, 1997 review of Top 3D Graphics Accelerators. PC Computing cited the Stealth 3D 2000 Pro as "an excellent combination of 2D speed and 3D graphics at a great price."
"We are pleased that the industry recognizes Diamond's Stealth 3D series as a leading solution for corporate desktop, professional users and consumers who demand fast acceleration with high resolutions, high color depths, and fast refresh rates for their Windows 95 and Windows NT applications," said David Watkins, vice president and general manager of Diamond Multimedia's Audio-Visual Systems Division.
"Based on S3's ViRGE family, the world's most popular 3D accelerator, the Diamond Stealth series offers full-featured multimedia acceleration for today's business and home PC users," said G.
