AuraVision ICs maximize Diamond Multimedia's Maximum DVD Kit; AuraVision provides quality video and compatibility with wide range of PCs

Business Wire, June 23, 1997

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 23, 1997--AuraVision Corporation today announced that its video processors will be incorporated in two of Diamond Multimedia Systems, Inc.'s new Maximum DVD Kits, which were announced earlier this week.

AuraVision's VxP524 Video Stream Processor and AnP82 integrated circuits (ICs) afford Diamond's DVD kits with the industry's highest video processing and playback, as well as the ability to be compatible with a wide range of PC systems.

Two of Diamond Multimedia's DVD solutions, the retail Maximum DVD Kit and the Maximum DVD Kit 2000DB for system integrators and VARs, incorporate AuraVision's video processor technology. The Maximum DVD Kit 2000DB features Toshiba's DVD-ROM drive, Diamond's PCI-based DVD adapter with decoders for MPEG-2 video and Dolby AC-3 digital audio, and TV-out support. In addition to these components, the retail version of the Diamond Maximum DVD Kit, priced at $599.95, includes a variety of entertainment titles.

"AuraVision is delighted to be working with Diamond in bringing advanced video movies, interactive games and other applications possible with the DVD format to any PC," said Steve Chan, president and CEO of AuraVision.

"AuraVision has allowed us to bring the highest quality PC video to our new Maximum DVD Kits," said David Watkins, vice president and general manager of Diamond's Audio-Visual Systems Divisions. "The Diamond Maximum DVD Kit delivers powerful, theater-quality digital video and advanced Dolby Digital Surround Sound."

AuraVision's VxP524 video stream processor provides quadruple frame buffer design and PCI bus mastering to ensure continuous video playback without dropping frames or causing CPU overhead. The VxP524 also features a polyphase interpolated scaling filter, which provides a continuously high-quality image at DVD resolutions.

AuraVision's AnP82 direct overlay video enhancer, which works in conjunction with the VxP524, enables Diamond's Maximum DVD Kit to be used with any PC. The AnP82 is an advanced, triple eight-bit multimedia DAC that provides overlay functionality for graphics and video display. This single-chip device resolves VGA compatibility issues, allowing the development of universally-compatible video capture/playback cards for DVD playback. Its overlay architecture is ideal for any PC system that demands high quality, high bandwidth video while avoiding PCI bus bottlenecks.
