Octopus Server with SASO Functionality
The Octopus Server mirrors updates to source files as they occur across local and wide area networks (LANs and WANs) to user-specified targeted systems. Up-to-the-minute data is then instantly available on any target system, regardless of the status of the source system.
Back up of data is conducted without any interruption in service, providing seamless maintenance of business continuity. Additionally, the product's SASO feature provides automatic switch over of server control from one or more failed source servers to any designated target server. This protects against the consequences of CPU failures, and ensures data integrity by eliminating the threats that any single point of failure may present to both.
Intergraph InterServe Functionality
The InterServe servers that include the Octopus Server with SASO failover and mirroring software are InterServe high availability models 635, 645, 650 and 660. These models come in a wide range of configurations, from single and dual Pentium Pro processor units that can be upgraded to four processors, to quad-Pentium Pro processor units that tap into the power of multiple 200MHz Intel processors.
All of these advanced technology servers are designed to take advantage of the easy-to-use, open architecture of Microsoft Windows NT.
