LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 5, 1997--
MOCA motorized convergence system ensures new BarcoReality LCD
Light-Valve projectors operate at peak resolution performance
BARCO, a leading manufacturer of video and graphics display technology, has introduced MOCA, a unique, proprietary system for precisely aligning each LCD panel in the new BarcoReality series of LCD Light-Valve projectors.
Especially valuable for on-axis and dual projector configurations, MOCA provides complete control of all LCD panel adjustments from the projector's infrared remote control via user-friendly, on-screen menus.
MOCA's proprietary technology uses a total of 18 geared DC motors -- 6 per LCD panel -- to individually focus and converge each LCD panel and produce an exceptionally sharp image on the screen. A special sequence of automatic adjustment steps eliminates iterative adjustments between focusing and convergence; manual fine-tuning is also possible by adjusting the controls while closely viewing the screen.
"MOCA eliminates awkward manual focusing and convergence procedures that previously required opening the projector and turning adjustment screws," said Steven Barlow, product group manager, large screen displays, for BARCO, Inc. "Our new MOCA system delivers a sophisticated, yet easy-to-use solution that has been the hallmark of our Light Cannon projectors.
BARCO's new Reality series of LCD Light-Valve projectors premieres with the BarcoReality 9200 LC. Equipped with an extremely powerful, state-of-the-art optical system driven by a 1,800-watt metal halide lamp, the BarcoReality 9200 LC produces an amazing light output of 6,000 lumens full white on screens up to 50 feet wide. Three 5.8-inch, active-matrix LCD panels with a resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels and a built-in proprietary Pixel Map Processor enable the BarcoReality 9200 LC to display resolutions of up to 2000 x 1280 pixels. To maximize operating versatility, the BarcoReality 9200 LC's lamp has three operating modes: boost (1,800 watts), normal (1,500 watts) and silent (1,200 watts).
