DesignSpace for SolidWorks available; new design tool helps engineers improve design performance
Business Wire, March 10, 1997
CANONSBURG, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 10, 1997--ANSYS Inc. (NASDAQ:ANSS) announces the availability of DesignSpace(TM) for SolidWorks(TM) 97, a new design tool that gives engineers easy access to important design performance information inside the SolidWorks environment.
The DesignSpace software makes its debut at this week's National Design Engineering Show at McCormick Place, Chicago.
"DesignSpace improves the effectiveness of product development by helping engineers make better decisions," explained Richard C. Miller, DesignSpace vice president and general manager. "Unlike traditional methods, DesignSpace gives design engineers answers to basic design questions using their own language."
DesignSpace enables engineers to assess how their designs will perform while working within SolidWorks. During the design process, design engineers ask questions that can impact manufacturing processes and product or part performance. Questions such as: will my design perform according to design specifications, will it break, where will it break, will it weigh too much, and will it cost too much to manufacture are the types of questions DesignSpace was created to answer.
Jon Hirschtick, SolidWorks chief executive officer, said, "As a SolidWorks Gold Partner, DesignSpace represents an exciting new generation of design tools that will make users of SolidWorks more productive. DesignSpace shares our vision of delivering cost-effective, native Windows applications for the mainstream engineer."
Pricing and Availability
DesignSpace for SolidWorks operates in Windows 95 and Windows NT (3.51 and 4.0).
