Fast access to functions with the unique NaviTKey THE NOKIA 3110 REDEFINES EASE OF USE FOR CELLULAR PHONES
Nokia today introduced a new GSM handportable with an intelligent user-friendly interface. The compact Nokia 3110 is a high-quality phone, designed to offer ultimate ease of use with a unique one- key access to functions. The product will be available in volume starting in June.
The most distinctive feature of the new Nokia 3110 is its smart menu system. The smart NaviTKey allows fast, one-button access to the functions of the phone, another industry-first innovation from Nokia. Upon pressing the NaviTKey, the phone guides the user through the features, providing fast and easy operation. All options are in plain text, which makes using the phone extremely uncomplicated.
The large full graphics display of the Nokia 3110 features a dynamic font size that adjusts automatically for ideal viewing based on the number of digits on the screen. The special `jumbo font' mode is clear and visible even from a distance. The stylish, slightly curved shape of the phone and the keypad layout enable comfortable one-hand operation.
Small and lightweight, the Nokia 3110 offers impressive performance. With a standard or vibrating battery, the Nokia 3110 weighs only 187 grams, offering up to 95 hours of standby or up to 2 h 45 minutes of talk time. The extended battery provides up to 250 hours standby or 7 hours of talk time. With the slim Lithium- Ion battery, the Nokia 3110 weighs only 146 grams, offering up to 70 hours of standby or 2 hours talk time.
- This new handportable is a true benchmark in usability, and we believe that the Nokia 3110 will appeal to both private and business users. With the launch of the Nokia 3110, Nokia's wide GSM product range is now unmatched by any other company, says Anssi Vanjoki, Senior Vice President, Nokia Mobile Phones, Europe and Africa.
The Nokia 3110 incorporates a broad set of features, including a one-touch voice mail key, memory up to 250 names and numbers (depending on the SIM card), menu texts in 18 languages, 25 ringing tones and Short Messaging Service. The phone supports data services, the sending and receiving of faxes, email and files from a PC via the Nokia Cellular Data Card or the new Nokia Cellular Data Suite.
The Nokia 3110 shares a range of accessories with the Nokia 8100 series, including chargers, headset and car kits. A new desktop stand is available for the Nokia 3110. -0-
Nokia launches world's smallest PC card with built-in GSM capability THE NOKIA CELLULAR CARD PHONE INTEGRATES A PC CARD AND A GSM PHONE
Nokia today introduced an advanced new solution for wireless data communication. The Nokia Cellular Card Phone is a PC Card with a built-in GSM phone. This new product turns a laptop PC into a wireless office without a cellular phone, interface adapters or cables. The Nokia Cellular Card Phone will be available on GSM markets in Europe and Asia in the second half of 1997.
With the Nokia Cellular Card Phone, the user is able to send and receive Short Messages, faxes and e-mail, access the Internet, connect to corporate databases and download files over digital GSM networks. The laptop PC can also be used as a speakerphone to make and receive calls.
- This product is easy to use, while integrating all the functionality of a cellular phone and data card. This single solution can be used in many applications in current laptop PCs and tomorrow's PDA's, says Mr. Reijo Paajanen, Senior Vice President, Wireless Data, Nokia Mobile Phones.
The Nokia Cellular Card Phone is compatible with most laptop computers, network computers and subnotebooks with a PC Card type II or III compatible slot and a sufficient power supply. It works with basic Windows `95 applications such as Microsoft Phone, Microsoft Exchange and Netscape Navigator as well as with communications applications such as MS Mail, WinFax PRO and ProComm Plus.
The cellular industry is moving from the pure voice-based services to value-added, often data-based services. Solutions like the Nokia Cellular Card Phone bring whole new customer groups into wireless data. For industry use, the Nokia Cellular Card Phone can be integrated in vertical solutions, such as wireless Point of Sales terminals, vending machines and Traffic Telematic systems. The Nokia Cellular Card Phone opens a number of possibilities for industrial applications, says Mr. Paajanen.
- The main target customers for the Nokia Cellular Card Phone are laptop users with a need for full voice and data services regardless of time and place. These customers often prefer a second cellular phone devoted to wireless data transmission, notes Mr. Reijo Paajanen
The Nokia Cellular Card Phone is a PC Card type II extended device, combining an autonomous cellular transceiver with an external control interface, an antenna and an integrated SIM card reader. The cellular phone and data transmission functionality are implemented by the transceiver card where as the user interface is Windows `95 or compatible software.
