Carrier names vice president of strategic planning

FARMINGTON, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 20, 1997--Carrier Corp. announced today that Stephen P. De Falco, 36, has been named vice president of strategic planning.
De Falco, named to the post by Carrier President John R. Lord, will be based in Farmington, Conn. He will lead Carrier's worldwide strategy development efforts and focus on identifying and evaluating new business development initiatives as Carrier continues its global expansion.
De Falco will also lead Carrier's worldwide commercial refrigeration efforts, a new business arena for Carrier, which is the world's leading manufacturer of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems.
Prior to joining Carrier, De Falco was director of strategic planning for United Technologies, where he focused on company growth opportunities through acquisitions, joint ventures and new product launches. Before that he spent seven years at McKinsey and Co. working to assist international high technology companies develop business strategies, execute company turnarounds, initiate new product channel management and distribution plans and other initiatives. Before that, he worked at IBM, where he led engineering teams that developed mainframe computers.
De Falco holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a master's degree in computer engineering from Syracuse University and a master's degree in management from the Sloan School of Management at MIT.
