Advanced Computer Communications introduces UNIX-based SNMP network-management tool; RiverView for UNIX fully interoperable with Newbridge Networks netman tools
Business Wire, March 3, 1997
SANTA BARBARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 3, 1997--Advanced Computer Communications (ACC), a leading provider of network-access solutions, Monday announced an addition to its Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)-based network-management family with the introduction of RiverView for UNIX.
Running on the popular HP OpenView network-management platform, RiverView for UNIX provides the performance and capabilities needed to manage large networks with thousands of nodes.
RiverView for UNIX provides full configuration, monitoring and trouble-shooting of all ACC devices through a graphical user interface (GUI). Its modular descriptor application easily extends new ACC node types by adding equipment descriptor files, which can be loaded and compiled while the system is operational, avoiding costly network downtime.
The extensive application includes such features as hierarchical network maps, automatic map generation and a rapid configuration feature, which allow for easy creation of network topologies using copy and paste techniques.
Graphic images of ACC remote-access devices, including color-coded identification of I/O cards, enable quick trouble-shooting of problem nodes. A point-and-click menu bar displays all ACC bridge/router parameters.
Interoperability With Newbridge Networks Management Tools
RiverView for UNIX can run as an integrated application with HP OpenView for UNIX, allowing easy integrated into existing management environments.
For integrated management with Newbridge Networks-based LANs and WANs, RiverView for UNIX can be launched from 46020 Mainstreet Manager and VIVID System Manager. ACC's modular descriptor adds ACC device definitions, features and attributes to the 46020, providing users with customized descriptors of all ACC devices on the network.
Sophisticated Network Management Features
RiverView for UNIX monitors nodes and isolates problems quickly and easily. Users can navigate through the network and open drawings, configuration forms, tables and menus by clicking the mouse. In addition, rules-checking features prevent configuration errors. For advanced users, accelerators and navigation tools quicken the configuration process.
Price and Availability
RiverView for UNIX is available for Solaris and HP-UX operating systems.
List prices are as follows:
RiverView for UNIX Base Application $3,000
RiverView for UNIX Descriptor Software $2,000
RiverView for UNIX and HP OpenView Bundle $17,500
