CANTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 6, 1997--Avitar, Inc. ("the Company") [Nasdaq SmallCap Market:AVIT (Common Stock); AVITW (Redeemable Warrants)] today announced the successful completion of clinical trails of the Visualine II urine drugs of abuse tests for amphetamine and methamphetamine. The development of these two test will extend the line of drugs of abuse test available from Avitar and Sun Biomedical to seven tests. These two new tests will soon be submitted for regulatory review.
Dr. Carl Good III, who recently joined Avitar as Vice President of Research and Development, noted, "These very positive results have implications beyond urine testing. Avitar and Sun Biomedical Laboratories are currently in a joint program to develop saliva drugs of abuse tests that will be derived from the urine tests. In addition to the previously-announced progress in the saliva test development program, these two test will help broaden the opportunity for saliva test collection."
