PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 12, 1997--Crown Pacific Partners, L.P. (NYSE:CRO) today announced plans to build a new $12 million high technology stud mill in Port Angeles, Wash.

Construction of the new mill will begin after engineering studies are completed and final board approval is obtained. The mill will have the capacity of cutting eight- to 10-foot lengths, for both domestic and export markets. The exact site of the Port Angeles sawmill is under consideration. The mill is expected to be completed by the summer of 1998.

Crown Pacific has approximately 4.7 billion board feet of timber holdings on 738,000 acres in the Pacific Northwest.
