Altera Corporation to build enterprise customer information system with Siebel Enterprise Applications; Worldwide leader in programmable logic devices and logic development tools to consolidate customer information with Siebel Enterprise Applications

SAN MATEO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 13, 1997--Siebel Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:SEBL) announced today that Altera Corporation, a worldwide leader in high-performance, high-density programmable logic devices, has selected Siebel Enterprise Applications as the foundation of its new enterprise-wide sales and service information system.
Altera's goal is to consolidate the information in its current systems into a single, integrated customer information system (CIS) that can be used company-wide to improve internal communication, streamline sales processes, provide exceptional customer service, and enhance overall productivity and profitability.
Altera's CIS implementation will be integrated with the company's enterprise resource planning (ERP) project to provide a client/server, GUI computing environment. Altera will use Siebel Enterprise Applications, consisting of Siebel Sales Enterprise(TM) and Siebel Service Enterprise(TM), as an integrated system for tracking, accessing, and providing information to Altera marketing, customer service, call centers, customers, distributors, and sales representatives.
