SIMSCI signs new license agreement with Mitsubishi Chemical Corp
Business Wire, May 15, 1997
BREA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 15, 1997--Simulation Sciences Inc. (NASDAQ:SMCI) Thursday announced that it has signed a multi-year licensing agreement with Mitsubishi Chemical Corp., Japan's largest chemical company, for the use of SIMSCI's PRO/II with PROVISION software program, complete with its Electrolyte, Batch and Polymer modules.
The PRO/II program provides chemical engineers with the ability to simulate the flow of materials and energy through plant processes. Program results help process engineers and plant engineering managers optimize process design and operation, providing essential information for business decisions. The PROVISION environment provides PRO/II users with a windows-based, graphical user interface as well as an open, software environment designed to facilitate the exchange of process information with other applications.
Commenting on the contract, Mitsubishi Chemical's general manager for research and development, Dr. Takeshi Ishikawa, said, "We had great success last year using the PRO/II with PROVISION software on a project basis and were extremely impressed with the program's capabilities for chemical processes. We also were impressed with the excellent support SIMSCI provided us during project implementation. The PRO/II with PROVISION software offers the flexibility and ease of use we need in a process simulation tool. As a result, we have expanded its use within our company through our new agreement with SIMSCI."
"This is an exciting opportunity for us because it is an excellent example or our software's value to companies in the chemical industry and our strategy to continue to expand our customer base in this industry," said Charles R. Harris, president and chief executive officer for Simulation Sciences.
