Imperial Petroleum Recovery Corp. introduces new sludge recovery units for North American market
Business Wire, May 28, 1997
HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 28, 1997--Imperial Petroleum Recovery Corp. (OTC Bulletin Board: IREC) has introduced smaller-scale versions of its MST System sludge recovery units.
The units utilize Imperial Petroleum Recovery's proprietary RF technology to convert crude oil waste into saleable oil, treatable water and a dramatically-diminished quantity of disposable substances - all at a much more reasonable price than traditional recovery systems.
The new Imperial units process 1,000 and 2,000 barrels of crude oil emulsions per day, meeting the demands of small North American refineries and production facilities. The larger units continue to be aggressively marketed internationally. The new units are expected to be in operation this summer, initially in North America.
MST (Microwave Sludge Treatment), a proprietary process currently being patented by Imperial Petroleum Recovery Corp., uses radio frequencies (RF) to break the bonds linking water and hydrocarbons in oil emulsions. The MST System recovers 95-98% of the available crude oil while other systems recover only about 50% of the available crude oil. The MST System provides great environmental benefits and is less expensive than competing systems. Centrifuge systems require expensive additives, expensive heat pressure systems, and incineration which destroys the oil and contributes to air pollution.
It is estimated that a minimum of 1.4 million barrels of crude oil sludge are produced daily. In addition, there are millions of barrels of sludge stored in tanks and surface empoundments.
Imperial Petroleum Recovery Corp. is an oil services company that manufactures and markets crude oil sludge recovery process technology. The company builds its MST Systems at its manufacturing plant in Crosby, Texas.
